ABOUT KATY AQUATICS

Katy Aquatics, founded in 1986, has developed a state and national reputation for a first-class, year-round swim program.  We have achieved the 2024 USA Swimming Bronze Medal in the Club Excellence Program.  The club also earned Level 3 in the USA Swimming Club Recognition Program.
We offer a guided age-group youth program for children ages 4 and up, from the beginning swimmer to the most competitive and skilled.  When a young person becomes a member of Katy Aquatics he/she learns the values of sportsmanship and teamwork.  Swimming, through Katy Aquatics, provides physical, emotional, and intellectual skills that will last a lifetime.
Katy Aquatics Team for Youth (KATY) is located west of Houston, TX, in the rapidly growing Katy area. The team is composed of over 1200 swimmers in competitive, and pre-competitive, groups.
KATY is a not-for-profit, 501-c3 swimming club, and is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors elected to rotating three-year terms.

The legend of pink floyd

It all began on Joe Watson’s 17th birthday in 2001, when he discovered two pink flamingos mysteriously placed in his front yard. He named them Roger and Floyd. While Roger stayed home, Floyd became a beloved fixture at practices and meets — inspiring cheers, t-shirts, and team spirit.

When Joe graduated, Floyd was passed down to swimmer Evan Ryser, with Brian Regone, Jordan Ryan, and Bobby Aertker helping to carry on the tradition. Over time, however, Floyd was lost, becoming more of a legend remembered by longtime members and old team shirts.

Then in 2014, Floyd made a surprise return and was placed under the care of senior swimmer Lindsay Shabet — reigniting the tradition and spirit that he brought to Katy Aquatics years ago. And so, the legacy of Floyd lives on.
